2F Second level:Japanese
Tobacco |

This level describes the history of tobacco in Japan,
from its earliest appearance up to the present. From about 1600, shredded tobacco
was smoked in long, slender kiseru pipes; after the late nineteenth century renewal
of contact with the West, cigarettes came into favour.
